How
It Works:
TNL Antispam will check your POP3 Email box and weed through your
incoming mail messages. There are several processes that TNL antispam
uses to eliminate spam from your inbox. Using a combination of
filter and challenge & response technology TNL Antispam proudly
offers an unheard of false-positive rate (legitimate email falsely
marked as spam), with minimal user intervention.
Below is an outline of the process:
Step
1: Is this person a friend?
Incoming mail is checked against your list of friends. This
list of friends contains full email addresses as well as partial
wildcard matches. So for example, if you wanted mark every email
address at tnlsoft.com as friends. You could simply add tnlsoft.com
on your friends list. This FRIENDS list can also be imported
from address books from popular email programs like Outlook.
If a mail message is from a friend it is left alone and it stays
in your POP3 mailbox.
Step 2: Is this person banned?
Incoming mail is then checked through your list of banned addresses.
This works exactly like your friends list except mail from a
banned email address is automatically deleted from your mailbox.
Step 3: Does it meet the filters?
Incoming mail is then run through a set of filters which you
can easily modify. If it meets filter criteria the message will
be automatically deleted OR you can tell TNL
Antispam to automatically add the email address to your friends
list or add it to your banned list.
Step 4: Attempt to find out if this is from a legitimate
source.
If the sender of a message passed the filters, is not found
on your friends list or your banned list the following process
takes place.
•
The message in question is removed from your POP3 Box and
placed in a 'holding' queue.
• TNL Antispam will dispatch an email (called an authentication
request) asking the sender to confirm that they are a real
person. The sender only need to reply to the email to confirm
themselves. The email itself contains unique identifiers which
will be verified when the email comes back to TNL Antispam.
• Once the sender replies to the authentication request.
The message is removed from the 'holding'
queue and placed back into your POP3 box.
• This person is then added to your friends list.
• If a person does not respond you can tell TNLAS to
automatically delete the message after 10 days (or how ever
long you tell TNLAS to hold held mail).
Messages
in the holding queue are viewable through the program and you
have the ability to manually approve or deny individual messages
if you so choose.
